someone is selling my thingiverse models on eBay

I just found out an eBay seller is selling prints of one of my models without permission
I sent a polite note explaining that the model has a non commercial license and asked them to take it down, especially since they’re using my photos, too.

the seller’s response was honestly shocking. they basically claimed that by uploading to Thingiverse, I lost all my rights and the files are now public domain.
They even argued that CAD models aren't art and that 3D printing them is a transformative act that bypasses copyright. they also told me I should be happy they're creating jobs by selling my work!

I'm taking this straight to eBay’s Vero program to report the IP infringement. I'll keep you all posted on how they handle it, as anyone dealt with 3D printing copyright issues like this before?

huh? definitely not public domain. they were released under a specific license. using them for profit is no different than burning a CD and claiming you're just selling the plastic rather than the music on it

Thingiverse lets the creator determine the terms. if your model is marked as non commercial and they're making money off it while not giving you credit, they’re 100% violating your license

yeah, I find that it's sad that small artists like myself spend time making something for people to enjoy and stuff like this happens. their responses are also so rude

Continue with your original idea: report it to eBay Vero and get the seller's listings removed. Seller obviously doesn't understand IP and is defending his ignorance. This needs to be handled right away!
