Time for a change.

I’ve been involved with 3D printing since the later part of the 1980’s. Back then, it was called stereo lithography. Until a couple of days ago I’ve always designed and built my printers to my own specifications but now I’ve left that mode of operation. I now have a new Bambu Lab H2D and I couldn’t be happier. It’s fast, it’s quiet and it can cut vinyl decals. If I want to pay for the option, I can add a 10 watt or 40 watt laser. Now I need to work through the learning curve.

That’s quite the shift after all those years of building your own. The H2D seems to be getting a lot of praise lately. Curious what your first few test prints have been like so far. Can you share a few projects you have?

I now have a new Bambu Lab H2D and I couldn’t be happier.

oh, I have a Bambu Lab H2D too at my office. it's amazing, fast and can print multiple materials

Yeah, it's a huge change, but there are so many features on this printer that I can't keep up anymore. I've been printing various test parts to get a feel for how to use it correctly. My first impressions are:

1) It's fast!
2) It's versatile.
3) It's fast!
4) It's very quiet.
5) It's fast!
6) It has great print quality!

It's certainly not cheap, but it's worth the price if you need its capabilities.

Did I mention that it's fast?

well that's part of the enjoyment of the hobby! maybe you can show the other members what you've been printing? or teach them how to be FAST!

I'm currently printing some parts I need to get my astronomical dome working remotely. When that's done I'll get back to my Saturn V launch tower.

Nice lineup of projects. The dome work first, then back to the Saturn V, feels like a clean way to divide things up. Are the dome parts mostly functional prints or are you mixing in some custom design work too?

I do all my own design work. The dome rotator is almost ready for testing.
