We’re a few days into February 2026, so I figured this is a good time to collect the boring but effective maintenance habits that keep printers running smoothly. Newer members ask about upgrades a lot, but honestly, a solid maintenance routine can feel like a bigger upgrade than new parts.

What does your normal routine look like, and when do you do it? Daily, weekly, monthly, or only when something starts acting up. I’d love to hear specifics like when you swap nozzles, how you check belts, whether you clean and re-grease rails, and what you do to keep the bed surface consistent.

Biggest wins were swapping nozzles before they get ugly and cleaning the extruder gear when it starts looking dusty with filament. Also tightening belts just enough to stop that “twangy loose” feel.

Weekly I do a quick check for wobbles. Tighten any loose screws, check belts, and make sure the gantry moves smooth with no grinding. Monthly I wipe rails and re grease if your printer needs it.
