Filament feels tacky even after storage

So my PETG prints have been acting up all week. The surface looks glossy but feels tacky to the touch, and I swear the humidity’s to blame. I keep my spools in airtight bins, but this weather has been jumping between cool and damp, and it feels like the filament just sucked up moisture overnight. The funny thing is it was printing perfect last week. Anyone else running into this? I’m tempted to throw the whole roll in the dryer, but before I do, I wanted to see if others are having the same issue. Maybe it’s just this North Carolina humidity kicking up again or a bad batch. Either way, it’s driving me nuts.

PETG tends to pick up moisture quicker than people expect, even in sealed bins. Some folks use small silica packs or low-heat dry boxes between prints. Has anyone here tried longer drying cycles to fix that tacky texture?

you're right to dry the roll. The airtight bins help with storage but cannot remove moisture that the filament has already absorbed during handling or exposure to the air, which it sounds like it did quickly with the recent weather shifts. use a dedicated filament dryer, it's the safest and most efficient option
