PETG getting extra stringy on my holiday ornament prints

I have been printing some holiday ornaments in PETG and suddenly the stringing is way worse than it was a month ago. Same spool, same slicer profile, same printer. The only real change is the cooler weather in my workspace.

I already bumped retraction a bit and slowed travel moves but it still feels messier than usual. Does cooler air affect PETG enough that you tweak temps or cooling differently in winter. Curious what changes actually help before I keep chasing settings that worked fine in warmer months.

That’s a common winter frustration, especially when nothing in the profile changed. PETG seems extra sensitive once the room cools down.

Did the stringing show up right away when the weather changed, or did it creep in over a few weeks?

Cooler ambient temps absolutely changed PETG behavior for me. The material seemed to stay tacky longer, which made stringing worse even with higher retraction. I ended up nudging nozzle temp up a few degrees and slowing cooling, and that cleaned things up more than chasing retraction ever did.
