Resin print keeps tearing off supports halfway through, what fixed yours?

I’m getting that resin issue where the print starts out looking perfect, then halfway through it just fails near the supports. It’s always the taller parts too, which makes it extra annoying because you don’t find out until you’ve already burned a bunch of time and resin. The base and early layers look fine, then I come back and the model is either hanging by one support or it ripped clean off and is stuck to the FEP. This happened to me last night on a tall test piece. It got maybe 60 to 70 percent through before it separated. The supports were still on the plate like nothing happened, but the model tore away right at the contact points. When you finally fixed this, what made the biggest difference? More supports, heavier tips, changing the angle, tweaking exposure, or something else?

When my resin prints did that, it was usually too light of supports for the height and suction. More supports helped, but changing the angle helped more. What resin and layer height are you running, and is your room cold?

This sounds like weak contact points more than a base issue. The biggest fix for me was beefier support tips and a few more medium supports on the tall sections. I also tilted the model a bit more so it was not fighting suction the whole time.

The biggest fixes tend to be support contact strength and orientation. Heavier tips or more supports in the right spots often beats chasing exposure first. If you change one thing, try a slightly different angle and reinforce supports on the tallest sections.
