uneven lines after hotend upgrade

Put in a new E3D V6 on my old Tevo, thought it'd clean things up, and now I've got a fresh headache. The print looks great for most of the perimeter, but about a quarter of the surface has obvious lines, plus a vertical seam on the back.

Extruder problems are fixed, temps are dialed, config updated. If it were purely extrusion or heat, I'd expect the whole thing to look rough... not just part of it. That makes me think it's frame alignment, loose belts, or even the slicer seam placement, not the hotend itself. Anyone here actually nailed down this kind of issue? I don't want to chase ghosts if it's just Cura hiding the seam in one spot or if my printer's frame is slightly racked.

You're on the right track, start by looking for any minor frame rack or uneven belt tension. Also, keep in mind that Cura's seam hiding feature can create that vertical line if it's set to back or nearest. Give the random seam option a shot and then recheck the squareness of your frame.

Yuhp, def sounds more like mechanical or slicer seam issues than the hotend, check belt tension n stuff like that. Also, in cura you can set seam placement to random or aligned to see if it fixes that vertical lines
