6 months in and I still have a LOT to learn

I'm fairly a newbie - I've been working with it on and off for past six months. I've busted two LCD screens cleaning them with obviously too much pressure. I have the Anycubic Photon M3 Max, and I'm happy with the build plate size and depth. I've tried several different brands of Resin, some of which are of no use on this printer. I print mainly nosecones, transitions, dummy motor nozzles, and the miscellaneous tools I've needed - I printed a two level funnel for straining resin out of IPA, so the funnel doesn't fill up fast (or at all) like a normal funnel does. This resin stuff is messy, and you really need a dedicated work station/environment to keep everything smooth and as "clean" as possible. As always, I stress use of protective rubber gloves when handling this stuff. I've had some really great prints making BT-80 Nosecones (I made an upscale of the classic Javelin that came "bundled" with the Super Flea - both BT-5 body tubes, but incredibly fun to build back in the 70's. The rocket is 63" tall. And, I've had some really bad print failures - usually because I didn't hollow out a nosecone model, or I made the wall too thick - resulting in very heavy nosecones - OR I didn't put enough supports on the model.. seems like a LOT of resin is wasted due to supports needed. Ahh the joys of resin printing - getting everything tweaked, calibrated, leveled, etc. etc.

Sounds like you’ve learned a lot in six months. That Anycubic M3 Max can be a beast once it’s dialed in. Hollowing and support placement really make or break a resin print. welcome to the 3D Printing community!

Messy’s the right word. I tried resin for a while and ended up building a “mini hazmat zone” in my garage just to deal with cleanup. Totally worth it when it works, but man, it’s not a casual hobby. It requires precise handling!

That funnel idea’s genius. I’ve wasted so much resin trying to strain IPA sludge through normal ones. And yeah, hollowing makes a huge difference like it’s crazy how much weight that resin adds.
