Cooling upgrades that actually improve print quality?

As everyone starts doing their final projects of the year, I am curious who has gone down the rabbit hole of custom cooling fans or all metal hotends. These upgrades sound great until your printer asks for fifteen rounds of re calibration and a motivational speech.

If you have done it, did you actually see better print quality or faster performance? Or did it just give you new problems to solve? Would love to hear real experiences before more people jump into December upgrades.

I tried an all metal hotend thinking it would be a quick win. It printed fine eventually but the first few weeks were rough. Constant tweaking and failed prints when I only had short windows to work on it. In the end it was better, just way more effort than I expected.
