Losing motivation for 3D printing

So i’ve been into 3D printing for a while now, and recently I noticed I’m not as eager to fire up the printer as I used to be. but i still appreciate the hobby and what it lets me create, but... the spark that pushed me to experiment and tweak things feels quieter lately.

I’m not sure if it’s end of year fatigue, having printed most of what I wanted already, or just needing a mental reset. Part of me feels guilty stepping back, even though I know hobbies are supposed to be fun, not obligations.

Have you ever taken a break from 3D printing because of burnout, and did stepping away help or make it harder to come back?

burnout means that you're not resting enough. do you have enough sleep? working is important, but you need to take care of yourself too. balance working with having enough rest

I hit this same wall last year. what helped me was stopping the experimental stuff. no more testing new resins or tuning retraction settings
I spent a month just printing presupported fun stuff or simple fidgets that I didn't care if they failed. it took the pressure off

Maybe I didn't hit a big wall, but lose some interest from time to time. When this happens, I try something new to break the monotonous - IE multi-color printing w one nozzle, Tinkercad... Lately I'm trying to learn Blender.

Good luck

If you want to stay involved without the full grind, try a “zero tweak” rule for a week. Reprint one known-good file with your last stable profile, or do a single maintenance task like nozzle swap, re-lube, or dry filament. Keeping it small helps you avoid the spiral of chasing perfection.
