Not sure if the weather changed or if my printer is being moody

I feel like my printer picked the worst time to start being picky about first layers. New York finally shifted into real November weather and now my first layers keep landing somewhere between perfect and terrible with no warning. I am not even changing settings between prints so it is throwing me off. I keep telling myself it is probably just the room temp dropping or the filament acting different, but I cannot tell if I should tweak things or leave it alone. Anyone else dealing with stubborn first layers lately? What helped you get things stable again?

It’s probably the weather shift. My printer started acting moody too once the temps dropped. I tightened up the Z-offset a hair and things calmed down. Doesn’t take much when it’s November.

I suspect wet filament. make sure your filament is dried to spec. Bed temperature could be off, you may have an adhesion issue that is solved by washing the build plate in warm water and decreasing the soap

Cold snaps in New York can make a printer act unpredictable even if your settings stay the same. First layers are usually the first thing to show that the room temp has shifted or the filament cooled a bit too much before hitting the nozzle. You might want to take a quick look at how long the printer sits idle before a run because the bed can drop faster than you expect. When the bad layers happen, does the filament look under-extruded or does it just fail to stick?
