Anyone here upgrading their printer before the holidays? I keep telling myself I am set for a while but every time a new model shows up on my feed I start wondering if I should go for it too. It feels like everyone is getting faster prints or cleaner surfaces with these newer machines. If you already upgraded or are thinking about it I would love to hear what pushed you in that direction. I am trying to figure out if I need a real upgrade or if I am just getting tempted again for no reason.

New models always look tempting this time of year, but the real question is what your current setup is not doing for you. If your machine is still hitting the quality and speed you need, an upgrade might just be a want. If you are starting to hit limits like long print times or tricky materials, that is usually when an upgrade earns its keep. What is the one thing your current printer is holding you back on?

I upgraded to get an enclosure to print more exotic materials. I always want something bigger too!

Older printers still sell well on classified ads - so you can sell old printers for a decent price and use the money to upgrade.

Many sales this time of year too!

Let us know what you get.

Good luck!

I’ve been thinking about it too, mostly because the newer bedslingers and CoreXY setups look way faster than what I’m running. But I’m still not sure if that’s a “need” or just upgrade envy. If you upgraded already, what specific improvement did you notice first?

I just ordered the Snapmaker U1 printer. Increadable machine for $849 (preordered actually). I could not resist!
